LPGA to Announce Juli Inkster as 2015 U.S. Solheim Cup captain

The LPGA is going to officially announce Juli Inkster as the new US captain for the 2015 Solheim Cup. Read on: After Europe marking its first-ever win in the US in August 2013 at Colorado Golf Club, the LPGA now decides to project Juli Inkster as captain for Solheim Cup in 2015. Germany will be hosting the 2015 event from 18 to 20 September at St. Leon-Rot.

The official announcement of the new 2015 United States Solheim Cup captain will be done at the JTBC Founders Cup. A seven-time champion who is turning 54 in June, Inkster holds the record of playing most Solheim Cups (9) as well winning most points (18 1/2) ever by an American. Inkster had indicated earlier this year that this would be her last season as a full-time LPGA participant. She, however, shares a good relationship with most young players and LPGA wants her to lead the US in Germany and fetch a much-needed win!

 

Alejandro Canizares Sweeps the Hassan Trophy

Looking for a victory ever since the Russian Open, Spain’s Alejandro Canizares registered a wire-to-wire win in the Hassan Trophy. Keep on reading for more details, Marking a close win in the Hassan Trophy the last weekend, Spanish golfer Alejandro Canizares bagged his first European Tour title after 2006. Playing at Golf du Palais Royal in Agadir, the champion was able to take a six-shot lead in the final round, and was well ahead of Andy Sullivan after carding 70 to end 19 under!

England’s 26-year-old Andy Sullivan did charge through the course with an amazing 63 and covered the back in just 29. Seve Benson from England birdied the 18^th and shared the third place with Magnus A Carlsson from Sweden.For Canizares, the recent win came after a long, long time after he played one of the best games of his career. The 31-year-old hopes this victory will help him prepare for future tournaments.  

Tiger Woods Drops Out Arnold Palmer Invitational

Tiger Woods dropping out the Arnold Palmer Invitational is quite sad news. Even though it’s all due to his bad back, Tiger fans are highly disappointed.Having an injured back, the star golfer Tiger Woods has dropped out the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Tuesday Tiger called Palmer to inform him and express his regrets.

Informing that he won’t be playing the tournament this year, the champion also conveyed his regrets to all Orlando admirers, the tournament staff, the volunteers and the sponsors.

When asked why he would be missing the event, Tiger told that his backache that hasn’t yet subsided is the reason. Regretting missing the tournament this week, he said he’ll discuss it with his doctors and continue to be evaluated. Since Tiger Woods is going to miss a game that he’s won eight times before, his fans are finding it simply tough to take it!

 

Titanium golf Clubs Emitting Sparks

The ability of titanium golf clubs to emit sparks on hitting the ground may be another golf hazard. A researching team at the University of California has found that some types of titanium golf clubs can cause dry grass and plants close by to ignite. They need, however, to strike the ground quick enough to produce sparks. 

 Jim Earthman, a material-sciences professor who carried out the study, told that these golf clubs were found to cause fire on several golf courses in California. And that he had himself noticed faint sparks after striking a tee with a titanium driver.

The incidents of fire frequently occurred in places that were not properly watered and had too much of vegetation close by.
