The ability of titanium golf clubs to emit sparks on hitting the ground may be another golf hazard. Read on to find how:While small ponds and sand pits have already been potential golf perils, another recently discovered hazard is certain sorts of golf clubs that emit sparks on striking the ground!
Golf Sparks
A researching team at the University of California has found that some types of titanium golf clubs can cause dry grass and plants close by to ignite. They need, however, to strike the ground quick enough to produce sparks.
A researching team at the University of California has found that some types of titanium golf clubs can cause dry grass and plants close by to ignite. They need, however, to strike the ground quick enough to produce sparks.
Jim Earthman, a material-sciences professor who carried out the study, told
that these golf clubs were found to cause fire on several golf courses in
California. And that he had himself noticed faint sparks after striking a tee with
a titanium driver.
The incidents of fire frequently occurred in places that were not
properly watered and had too much of vegetation close by.
